Since upgrading from Linux Mint 19 to 19.1, I am having an small issue with the whisker menu
plugin icon not appearing for the panel button. All of the rest of the icons inside of
the whiskermenu, and the rest of the panel icons themselves are appearing correctly.

Here is what I have done, so far, in an attempt to resolve the issue:

    1. Remove and re-add the whiskermenu panel item.
    2. Reset the panel with 'xfce4-panel -r' and 'xfwm4 --replace' (I've also rebooted).
    3. Restore the panel from a previous backup(s).
    4. Completely purge and re-install the xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin.
    5. Create a completely new panel. Here the whisker menu icon does show up.
However, it appears very tiny. It looks like it is using a 16x16 icon, rather than
than the 32x32 size the rest of the icons are using.
    6. I've tried switching to different icons both of the same, as well as
different sizes with no luck. Adjusting the item and category icon size works, as
    expected, for menu items.
    7. I've tried switching the icon display between Icon, Title and Icon and Title.
The title shows up correctly when selected.
    8. Adding the default xfce Application menu item to the same panel display
    its icon correctly.

I finally resolved the issue by building and installing xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin-2.1.7 from source.
Along with 2.3.0 not working for me, versions 2.2.0 and 2.2.1 did not work properly for me either.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

Thanks.

What widget theme are you using? Have you tried using Adwaita or Greybird? This sounds like your theme has incorrectly large paddings for the panel button, which Whisker Menu 2.2.0 and newer respects.

Hi Graeme,
I've resolved the issue.

It turns out that I had been using a gtk.css file, for a couple years, as a fix for a different plugin not displaying properly with any dark themes and had forgotten about it. Removing that file fixed the issue and I am back on my distros official package for the whiskermenu plugin.

Thanks for the pointer for troubleshooting and your time.

Regards,
Kevin
