Created attachment 8031 label-poc.patch This is a follow up of Bug 14725. Some apps, such as SafeEyes[1], use AppIndicator and set a label of their indicator. This label is not handled by statusnotifier-plugin. The attached path is just a proof-of-concept, that replaces the title in tooltip by label. If anyone is interest in expanding my lousy patch into something useful, I think the steps are: - sn-item.[c|h] implement sn_item_get_label - sn-icon-box.c add a GtkLabel for that label in sn_icon_box_new - update sn_icon_box_get_preferred_size so it takes the label width into account - probably add a signal to act upon label changes
