Moving to the correct product. Funny, no tooltip seem to work anymore, but they do with Thunar 1.6.15.
Cannot reproduce here, for me things work fine. Where is this setting where you can toggle 'show tips for app' ?
Interesting, on my work's laptop tooltips work as expected, but on my personal laptop they rarely appear. What I found out via Gtk Inspector is that lots of events are emitted when the cursor is over the sidebar, I mean hundreds of query-tooltip events in a few seconds. That must be the reason why they don't appear to me and blink to the reporter. Needs further investigation...

Found some people complaining about this issue: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/gtk-3-3-24-tooltip-flickering/58767 That thread lead me to: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/1371 And indeed, changing the cursor size is a workaround and now it makes sense because: - At work and home my machines are already on gtk 3.24 (Arch Linux) - However at work I have a script that "adjusts" the cursor size on start up - Alex couldn't reproduce this bug because (I'm 99% sure) he's still on gtk 3.22 So I'm closing this bug because it's an upstream issue. Thanks for reporting!
