When running as 'root' , if you attempt to create the 'trash' applet on a panel, you will receive the following notification: "Failed to connect to the Trash: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.xfce.FileManager. Timeout was reached." Occurs on both Slackware-current and Arch Linux distributions. With Slackware-current, it occurs in both 32 and 64 bit versions. It has been tested on Ryzen 7, AMD-FX8350, and Intel i7 architectures. It appears to be Thunar-related, in that the problem didn't show up in -current, until Thunar 1.8.2 was introduced Thunar Version: 1.8.2 thunar-volman: 0.8.1 xfce4-panel:4.12.2
Running a xfce session as root, I found via d-feet that it is possible to query org.xfce.Thunar but not org.xfce.FileManager. Possible due how that last dbus name is registered: https://git.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/commit/?id=ea535c2a2cd21172fee72039a8967cc152f59884 What was the previous Thunar version you were using, 1.6.x or 1.8.0/1?
