Maybe Thunar libraries can be used to create functionality to select several
icons on desktop by "painting" them with mouse (holding mouse 1). Now the files
have to be selected while keeping ctrl or shift pressed

Same functionality is on all desktop environments using desktop icons (Gnome,
KDE, Windows)
