After installing TeXlive from the CTAN, I tried to update the path but was not able to have the system finding path for TeX related software, for example when opening a new terminal , writing which tex would give no answer. Then doing first su to myself,I did have an answer. Looking around on the web, it turns out that the following page explains exactly what the problem is: https://ljwo.wordpress.com/2014/02/02/global-path-in-debian-wheezy-xfce/ I could solve the problem in my installation following the advice in that text, but that is not the real correction to the problem. I do not know exactly who I should contact for solving this, hence I just post here. Thank you for your help.
