4.10 did place my windows perfectly as I needed. By pressing F1 to Fx I have shortcuts, that create xterms with open SSH connections. The size of these xterms is such so that exactly 4 of them fit on one desktop (of which I have multiple).

In 4.10 pressing - say - F1, F3, F5, F7 did place 4 windows neatly in a 2x2 grid.

Now - even though I set window size to small in smart placement, I get two xterms side by side in the upper half of the desktop (as previously), but the next two windows are placed over them while the lower part of the desktop remains empty.

I'm quite confident to say, that this "smart" behaviour is about as smart as an amoebas ass.
