rotation trashes xfwm's screen edge / full screen / tiling sizes

after rotating my screen, on maximizing windows do not utilize the full screen anymore, similarly tiled windows tile on a reduced grid. This has not happened with xfwm 4.10. My screen has native resolution of 1400x1050. Reduced edges may be 1050x1050 i.e. the now long axis is not elongated by rotation, but the short axis gets shortened.
