When opening an application from the Gnome Panel Area (e.g. gaim, rhythmbox, firestarter), the window should be opened in the current workspace. Currently the following happens: rhythmbox, firestarter: application is opened in the workspace where the application was last placed gaim: window is opened up in the workspace where the application was last placed _and_ that XFWM switches to that workspace. I have looked at http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/systemtray-spec/systemtray-spec-0.1.html , and there does not seem to be speced behaviour. I would suggest that the application should be either opened in the current workspace (or screen number) or (?equivalently?) have the Stocky flag set to true. If this is not the case then users have to click on the notification area, select the correct work space, and then return to the original workspace....this is a bit of a pain Thanks Richard
What version of xfce4?
Please try this version and report: http://www.xfce.org/archive/test/xfwm4-4.0.4-cvs.tar.gz TIA Olivier.
That works a lot better! Thanks. Two comments: 1) there is a typo in client.c line 1235 (illegal semi colon...I coped :-)) 2) With firestarter, the window always opens up in the bottom right corner and then is (quickly) moved. This results in an annoying flash in the bottom right hand corner. gaim and rhythmbox seem to be okay, so I wonder if this is a problem with firestarter?
Sorry, I forget to add I was using 4.0.2 (in debian/unstable)
Sounds like this can be closed.
No complaints in two months.
