Now I use XFce 4.10.0.
Some time ago while cloning my system I've find, that for common user everuthing works without media-sound/alsa-utils package.
I use only it's init script to save/restore alsa levels. On cloned system I had to install it for same purposes.
If xfce4-mixer will provide option to save current levels on closing session and restoreing them on I start, it will be possible remove media-sound/alsa-utils package.
