After a Crunchbang upgrade from stable to the testing repositories I started experiencing problems with the power manager. acpi gives the correct battery status but power manager always shows "98% and discharging". Also I set these options in power manager but the events are never triggered: - "Lock screen" when laptop is closed on battery - "Lock screen" when laptop is closed on AC - "Ask" when battery power is critical Screen is not locked when closed and computer runs out of battery without prompting. I expect this is related so include it here.
For me, the battery indicator displays the correct value on boot but then appears "stuck", e.g. it doesn't update the battery status when unplugging the power cord, or decrease the percentage when running on battery. 'acpi' displays the correct value. xfce4-power-manager 1.2.0
Seems to be same for me too - status is stuck on level at boot.
Can you print the output of upower -d ? I don't know too much about crunchbang but if they are using upower 0.99 and xfce4-power-manager 1.2 then it won't update because upower broke all the applications that use it. Good news is that there's a xfce4-power-manager 1.4 release out which adapts to those changes.

Debian updated their xfce4-power-manager package to 1.4 yesterday (it seems they skipped 1.3 entirely) and the new panel plugin doesn't have the bug. So to fix, update to xfce4-power-manager 1.4.
