For now I use xfce-base/thunar-1.6.3 (with udisks-2.1.3 and gvfs-1.18.3-r1). Not long ago I've find errors on filesystems of two usb flash drive I use. Mount (thunar) showed no warnings, on my XFce desktop I've seen no warning about filesystem. To my mind after initialization (detection of connected filesystem), prior to mount attemp, system should check health of connected filesystem and, if find errors, visualize it (for example in icon near eject button, in the field, where rotating round visualises mount/umount/process). Also, mabe it will be useful to visualise in the same filed type of filesystem on device (FAT/UDF/EXT/…). The next step is to extend command list (in right-button mouse click menu): Adding properties item (showing filesystem, mount options, mabe — format (i.e. mkfs) command). And optionally for broken filesystems — try to repair (i.e. fsck -a) followed with results window. Maybe It's not exactly Thunar's question, but I use Thunar and find it right to report request first downstream.
