Hello,

the new Xfce4-power-manager breaks xfpm functionality outside of xfce.

Other DEs , like LXDE do rely on this to be fully functional.

Is it just LXDE you're looking for support? If it's just one or two DE's the plan was to support the panel plugins inside their panels directly (and have a compile switch to turn it on).

Yes, that sounds fair enough ...

My primary concern would be LXDE, i'm not sure if there is anything specific out there also using xfpm

Small status update, I have a branch with a working LXDE panel plugin: http://git.xfce.org/users/eric/xfce4-power-manager/
in the lxde-battery-plugin branch. There's a couple things that need to be added for it to be complete, as well as testing. Once that's done, the brightness plugin can be ported in much the same way.

As we support LXDE again with the panel plugin, I would consider this fixed. If there are valid concerns that xfpm is needed in other platforms, feel free to comment in this bugreport and we can reopen it.
