Created attachment 5262 "Open with…" dialog Change the default behavior for unknown files in "Open with…" dialog. I open an unknown file and see a dialog to choose an application. Probably, I don't want to use the same app for a next file. But the checkbox is always checked. See the attachment. As far as I know, in KDE the opened file will never be associated with the application you open it with. The same is in MS Windows. It would be good to have the checkbox inactive or add a setting in Thunar allowing people to have their preferred behavior be remembered.

IIRC this was set as default because otherwise the application would not be remembered for the alternatives in the "Open With" list. I have implemented that the application is remembered as last used if not set as default: http://git.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/commit/?id=4fb5e8b12be02390e2c01e691c73a30a16e77ad6 So we leave this deactivated now by default: http://git.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/commit/?id=51b7e607aaf854d970a6241760b2852f5ec8ef10
