Created attachment 5211 glitch When moving icons on desktop I get this glitch on the background. This started when upgrading to 4.11.1-0ubuntu1~ppa0.12.04.1 from this ppa https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/xfce-4.12. The dots dissapear when doing xfdesktop --reload or mouse selection over them. Looks like these: . . . . . . Its the same without a wallpaper. Im on nvidia closed drivers, switched several version too with no difference. xfdesktop --version This is xfdesktop version 4.11.0, running on Xfce 4.10. Built with GTK+ 2.24.10, linked with GTK+ 2.24.10. Build options: Desktop Menu: enabled Desktop Icons: enabled Desktop File Icons: enabled
Created attachment 5217 Clear all pixels from drag highlight box This patch should clear up those artifacts from the drag highlight box.
The patch fixed the problem. Thanks!

Just upgraded xubuntu 13.10 (with provided patch installed and problem fixed) to xubuntu 14.04 and the issue is happening again. Thanks in advance. xfdesktop --version This is xfdesktop version 4.11.6, running on Xfce 4.10. Built with GTK+ 2.24.23, linked with GTK+ 2.24.23. Build options: Desktop Menu: enabled Desktop Icons: enabled Desktop File Icons: enabled
I'm also having artifacts while dragging icons to reposition them. Mine are boxes showing the grid. They stay there until I right click on the desktop. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS This is xfdesktop version 4.11.6, running on Xfce 4.10. Built with GTK+ 2.24.23, linked with GTK+ 2.24.23. For the moment I've removed the drag highlight because it is annoying. Once there's a correct implementation this feature can be added back in.
(In reply to Eric Koegel from comment #6) > For the moment I've removed the drag highlight because it is annoying. Once > there's a correct implementation this feature can be added back in. Can I remove the drag highlight?? If so, how? Or should I use the patch you attached? If so, how do I install it? Sorry for the questions. I'm fairly new to Linux. Thanks
The patch removing it was in commit: http://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/commit/?id=5ae9de5e6db2fc194102b4c61bace25bba2eda5f I did an Xfdesktop 4.11.8 release shortly after so it may be up to your distro maintainers or however you're currently getting Xfdesktop.
Marking as fixed. Note: xfdesktop 4.11.8 is now available in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
