application windows don't move
Status:
CLOSED: FIXED

Comments

Description nick rapp 2005-06-16 08:30:39 CEST
after some period of time using xfce, all of a sudden none of the application
windows can be moved. The applications themselves are running, applications can
be killed and launched, but they can't be moved or resized. The panel can move
just fine, focus changes as it should as well.
I really don't know what's causing this, there is nothing particular that I am
doing when it happens, but restarting xfwm4 fixes is temporarily.

I tried launching xfwm4 from a terminal to see any errors when this happens, but
there aren't any.

oh, I should note that the maximize/minimize functionality works, just not resizing.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. launch xfwm4
2. general use (again, not doing anything in particular
3.

Actual Results:
all application windows become unmovable and unresizeable. the wm seems to
function fine other than that.

Expected Results:
all application windows should be able to move and be resized :)

Please udpate to 4.2.2
Comment 2 nick rapp 2005-06-16 23:05:28 CEST
I forget to mention that, I am using 4.2.2, I didn't see an option for it in the
menu.

Can you post the results of "xfwm4 --version" and the content of
~/.xsession-errors maybe?
Comment 4 nick rapp 2005-06-17 18:31:08 CEST
here is the version output:
nick@suineg ~ $ xfwm4 --version
This is xfwm4 version 4.3.0 for Xfce 4.2.2
built with GTK+-2.6.4, linked with GTK+-2.6.7.

and ./xsession-errors:

there is more after this, but it is all just a repetition of the first two errors.

You aren't running 4.2.2 but 4.3.0. Unfortunately Trunk (or head) aren't
updated, so my guess is that you are running an old version that had that bug in
common with 4.2.x (x < 2).

Please try this far more recent version:

Comment 6 nick rapp 2005-06-17 19:56:39 CEST
I had forgotten I manually installed 4.3 to try and fix a previous problem, I
guess 4.3 wasn't removed properly when I installed xfce 4.2.2.

thanks, I will post back here if I continue having problems, but my guess is
that I won't.
